Barbara Yancey
Executive Director
Mrs. Barbara Yancey brings over 20 years of executive experience to the Center for Racial Understanding. Barbara displays a commitment to excellence and a unique style that is participatory, exploratory and empowering. Mrs. Yancey, founder of Advantage Unlimited in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, managed major public/private programs and services for the non profit community, government and corporations prior to relocating to Macon. She holds a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Social Administration (Magna cum Laude) from Temple University and began work on her Ph.D. in Management and Administration.

As Executive Director, Mrs. Yancey has represented the agency in fine form; developing new programs and initiatives, establishing collaborations and partnerships throughout the region and state and generating mechanisms to oversee, design, market, promote, implement, and evaluate programs and program delivery. Under her guidance, the Center ensures quality, measurable outcomes and services that meet the expressed needs of the organization and those served. Barbara enjoys cooking, reading, music, and watching classic movies.

Alvin Lindsey
Program Director
Mr. Alvin Lindsey, Program Director for the Center for Racial Understanding is a Louis Stokes Fellowship recipient from Case Western Reserve University with a Masters of Science Degree in Social Administration. He has over 15 years experience in non-profit management, assisting non-profit organizations in their pursuits for 501 (c) 3 exemption, board planning and development as well as program planning, implementation, and evaluation for both youth and adult service organizations. Board memberships have included the City of Fort Valley’s Code Enforcement Board (Vice Chair), Georgia PTA, FVSU CDC, and Peach County Family Connection Inter-Agency Council. He is a published author with the Department of Education and avid poetry writer.

Pamela Alston
Office Manager
Educated in Brooklyn and New York City, Pamela Alston has over 10 years of secretarial experience and has also worked with the homeless and the developmentally disabled in shelters for women and children in New York City. Pamela is married to Terry and has two daughters, Dana Jackson and Dawn. Pamela enjoys Art, History, Music, international cooking and watching her pet fish.
